Myohorengekyo Kanjihon Dai Jusan(13) THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF KEEPING THIS SUTRA

TATUNOKUTI Execution Ground
TATUNOKUTI Execution Ground

With this chapter, people who believe in the teachings of the Lotus Sutra are told that they are willing to enhance this teaching without giving in to any persecution. The term "The encouragement of keeping" means "recommend accepting the Lotus Sutra". The Buddhist scriptures that those who cultivate correct teachings face many difficulties have given courage to the Nichiren Saints and continued to support the life of their suffering.

The main point of the chapter 13

In the wake of the preaching of evangelism in Chapter 12, the Buddha pleaded for an additional mission to the Lotus Sutra, and Shakyamuni-Buddha had assured to become Buddha as called Gladly-Seen-By-All-Being and Emitting-Ten-Million-Rays-Of-Light to his adoptive mother Maha-Prajapati Bhiksuni and Lagora's mother Yasoudhara Bhiksuni. At that time, the eighty billion nayuta Bodhisattvas vowed to persuade this sutra if they were requested to preach, even after the extinction of the Buddha and even if the violence of swearing, and swords was added.

Maha-Prajapati Bhiksuni

Capilla Basteau Castle
Capilla Basteau Castle

When Maya, the Queen of the Shaka-family of Suddhana, gave birth to a prince and died seven days later, her younger sister, Maha-Prajapati Gautamie, was adopted as a foster mother. Since she was raised and loved like a child, she mourned the birth of the Prince more than anyone else. It was 12 years later that the Prince opened his enlightenment to become a Buddha and return to the castle of Capila Basteau. At that time, many of the Shaka youths went home and became Buddhist disciples. Among them were Nanda, the son of Maha-Prajapati, and Rahula, the son of Shakyamuni. Eventually, King Sududana died at an old age, and Maha-Prajarpati on behalf of the women who remained in the castle, prayed for a female joining, but Buddha did not allow this offer. Repeated offers were not allowed, but the joining of a woman was allowed by Ananda's intercession. Maha-Prajapati, who became the first nun in the Buddhist sect, was already old but was enthusiastically trained to serve as a model for other nuns, and three months before the Buddha's extinction, Baishali It is said that she closed her life.

Yasoudhara Bhiksuni

Yasoudhara is the princess when Shakyamuni was a prince. She was highly praised for her talent and was welcomed by the royal family of Shakya family. When Rafurla was born at Capilla Basteau Castle, Prince Siddharta, who had already decided to leave the house, secretly left the castle, riding only his favorite horse, Kantaka. When only couchman and the horse returned, lamenting the separation of the Prince among the lamenting people, "Why didn't you put the Prince back on horse?" She also lamented, "Why did you leave me alone and leave?" And she made the following oath. "From today until the end of my training, I don't rest on bed, put on makeup, dress nicely, or have a good meal. Even if I live in a palace, I'm still in the same mountains and fields as my prince. Let's live the life of an assailant. ”And she met Shakyamuni, who returned home 12 years later after becoming a Buddha.

Assurance of future Buddhahood for Bhiksuni at first

The Medicine-King Bodhisattva and The Great-Eloquence Bodhisattva made a vow statement, and the five hundred Arahans who were there made their names. In addition, 8,000 disciples stood up and vowed to preach the Lotus Sutra for people in other lands, but Shakyamuni did not respond to the requests of the Bodhisattva and guaranteed the completion of their training at two Bhiksuni. For my aunt's Maha-Prajapati Bhiksuni, all sentiment would be Gladly-Seen-By-All-Being Buddha, and for Rahura's mother, Yasoudhara, would be Emitting-Ten-Million-Rays-Of-Light Buddha. The fact that they were first registered as women gave great hope to the other women who leaved home together.

Three types of strong enemies

In the twenty-sentence poems of this chapter, it is explained that a devoted person persecuted the one that proclaims the Lotus Sutra in the world of end law.

1, ZOKUSHU-ZOJOMAN (ordinary people)

General people who believe in sutras other than the Lotus Sutra and apologize for those who try to increase the Lotus Sutra and add swords

2. DOMON-ZOJOMAN (Pride of the monks)

People who are momks but have devious wisdom, a heart to flirting with, and who have not yet been enlightened, but believe that they have enlightened

3.SENSHO-ZOJOMAN (Pride of the high priest)

He lives in a quiet place such as a mountain forest, always wears a rag-cloth sewn garment, and has earned the respect of the world as a saint who has a strong sense of caution. A hypocrisy who seems to look down on.

All of these are called "three types of strong enemies" because they persecute the suspects of the Lotus Sutra.

The  armor of endurance

We will endure all this

Because we respect you.

They will despise us,

Saying to us ironically,

"You are Buddhas"

We will endure all these despising words.

There will be many dreadful things

In the evil world of the kalpa of defilement.

Devils will enter the bodies of those bhiksus.

And cause them to abuse and insult us.

We will wear "the armor of endurance"

Because we respect and believe you.

FUSHAKU SINMYO (at the cost of my life)

When Nichiren Saint departs to the distribution center in Sado, the words of the Hokkei Sutra are in the letter "Sado Gokangisho".

"I want to learn Buddhism to become Buddha and become a Buddhist person, and to have a beneficiary person. I think that the road to becoming a Buddha can only become a Buddha if it is a life-threatening thing. Already, as in the sutras, it has been preached that swearing, abusiveness, swords and debris, and exile are often explained, and it is finally devoted to the Buddhist Sutra to meet such difficulties. I will definitely want to help all of you. ''
